ACTS 4

  1. Why were the priests, the captain of the temple guard, and the Sadducees greatly disturbed at Peter and John's teaching to the people? (4:1-2) What did they do about it? (4:3) In spite of this, what effect did their teaching have on many of the people at the temple? (4:4) Have you received opposition to your speaking up about the Christian faith? Even if we have, we can take comfort in the positive effect we had for Christ on our listeners.
  2. When Peter and John came before the Sanhedrin, what question were they asked? (4:5-7) What wasPpeter's answer to them? (4:8-12) What stands out to you the most about what pe-ter said? What enabled Peter to say what he did? (4:8) What can we learn about speaking out for Christ from Peter's example?
  3. What astonished the members of the Sanhedrin about Peter and John, and what did they take note of concerning them? (4:13) Are these things true of you?
  4. The members of the Sanhedrin wanted to keep Peter end John from speaking out about Jesus, and yet they had accomplished an outstanding miracle because of him, so what did they de-cide to do? (4:14-18, 21-22) What was Peter and John's answer to them? (4:19-20) (but also see I Peter 2:13-17 and Romans 13:1-7) How can you apply this answer to your life?
  5. After Peter and John were released by the Sanhedrin and went back to their own people, what did all of them do next? (4:23-30) What can we learn from what they did and how they did it?
  6. After this, what three things took place? (4:31)
  7. Describe in detail the kind of Christian life the early believers lived as described in verses 32-36. (4:32-36) What can we learn from this for our own life and lives together?
