Ephesians 4:1-16
- In verse 1 Paul says he is a prisoner of the Lord, not of Rome, because God has captured his heart, although Rome has captured his body. What does verse 1 mean in saying to "live a life worthy of the calling you have received."? Are you?
- Where does verse 3 say that Christian unity comes from? What is our responsibility concern-ing the unity that God wants? Are you doing this?
- The unity we are to have as Christians is emphasized in verses 4-6 by the repetition of the word "one" seven times. What are the 7 oneness things that are mentioned and what do each of them mean?
- What does it mean in verse 6 that God "is over all and through all and in all."?
- What is the grace that Christ has given us that is mentioned in verse 7? To what degree are you using this grace in your life?
- How does Jesus "fill the whole universe" as verse 10 says?
- What do verses 12-13 say is the purpose of the Spiritual gifts that God gives to Christians? Is this happening at our church? To what extent? Is this happening in God's universal Church? What does verse 16 say will happen when we use our spiritual gifts?
- What definition of spiritual maturity is given in verses 13-15? According to it, how spiritually mature are you? When we are spiritually mature, what problems does verse 14 say we will be able to avoid in our life?
- The perfect advise for communication in all relationships is given in verse 15. Instead of claming up or blowing up, how does verse 15 say we should speak (especially when we are upset)? What is your tendency when you are upset?
- Who does verse 16 say is the Head of the body of Christians who make up God's Church? Is He the Head of your life? To what extent? What do we receive from Him as we all use our spiritual gifts in service, working for the Lord? Is this happening at our church?
