Breakdown or Breakthrough?
Gaining God's Victory In a Hostile Work or School Environment
- Do Your Best at Your Job or School
- ". . . as if you were serving the Lord", Ephesians 6:5-8, Col. 3:22-24.
- Christians should be hard working and reliable, because we have a "servants attitude" and integrity.
- When we do, we become trustworthy, people begin to trust us, and our ministry there can begin with them:
- Listen.
- Care.
- Prayer, Phil. 4:6-7.
- Pray with people because this gets them in touch with hope, faith, and love.
- Have a Gracious Attitude
- Encourage, and when there is a problem, forgive, Ephesians 4:29-5:2.
- When the problem persists:
- Mat. 18:15-17.
- First talk to them privately about it.
- If it still persists, ask others to talk to them.
- If it still will not go away, then tell your authority about it.
- When we are the problem:
- "God gives grace to the humble.", I Peter 5:5.
- Try not to be defensive. If we are, it will hinder our being promoted.
- Admit our wrong, say we will learn from it, and not do it again. This will leave a positive impression that is good for our future advancement.
- Do Not Become Part of a Clique or Group
- Romans 12:16-18.
- This will limit your witnessing opportunities.
- Instead, work and socialize with all the people at your job or school.
- Being able to get along with and work with all kinds of people will enhance your job advancement.
- In Spite of All Our Good Efforts, Some People Will Still React Against Us
- Our light makes their "normal" ungodly behavior now look bad, and they react against us, John 3:19-20, II Tim. 3:12.
- If this happens to you, continue to commit yourself to God and to doing good, I Peter 4:12-19, Romans 12:14-21.
- Realize that God uses adversity to move us forward spiritually with Him, II Cor. 12:9-10.
- Your hostile school or work environment can bring you your next breakthrough with God!
