Lessons From The 10 Temples Of God, Answers
ALL 10 TEMPLES HAVE TWO MAIN PURPOSES:
- A PLACE FOR GOD'S DWELLING, AND
- A PLACE FOR WORSHIPING GOD.
- THE TABERNACLE OF MOSES
SCRIPTURES: On the Tabernacle: Exo. 25-27, 30, 40; Num. 9:15-16.
On the Offerings: Lev. 1-7, 9, 16; Num.15, 28.
On the Feasts: Exo. 23:14-19; Lev. 23, Num. 28-29; Deu. 16.
On the Levites: Num. 8, 18.
On Worship at the Tabernacle: Deu.12, 26, 31: 9-13, and especially Deu. 12:5-7PURPOSE: For making sacrifices to God who is holy and demanding.
APPLICATION FOR US TODAY: We still worship God by making sacrifices.
- THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID
SCRIPTURES: I Chr.15-16; II Chr. 7:6; II Sam. 6:12-19, and especially I Chr. 15:28- 16:1
PURPOSE: The first time music was used in worshiping the Lord.
APPLICATION FOR US TODAY: We worship the Lord by giving Him praise through music.
- THE TEMPLE OF SOLOMON
SCRIPTURES: II Chr.3-7, and especially II Chr. 5:4-7, 11-13, & 6:12-15, 18-21, 41, & 7:1-3
PURPOSE: God's glorious presence came when there was great sacrifice, praise, & prayer.
APPLICATION FOR US TODAY: We will experience God's glorious presence in our worship when there is great sacrifice/giving, great praise, and great prayer on our part.
- THE SECOND TEMPLE
SCRIPTURES: Ezra 3-6, Haggi 1-2, and especially Ezra 3:10-13
PURPOSE: God had judged, but now had restored, but the Second Temple was inferior.
APPLICATION FOR US TODAY: God can restore, including our lives, but sin has consequences that may go on.
- THE TEMPLE IN EZEKIEL
SCRIPTURES: Ezekiel 40-48, and especially Eze. 43:1-5, & 47:1-2
PURPOSE: God's glory returns to the Temple, out of which flows a river of God's life.
APPLICATION FOR US TODAY: Through God's glorious presence in worship, we experience His life flowing to us, which we let flow out of us to others.
- JESUS' BODY
SCRIPTURE: John 2:18-22
PURPOSE: Jesus fulfilled all the purposes of the 5 Old Testament Temples, and His body showed forth God's resurrection power.
APPLICATION FOR US TODAY: We can experience Jesus' resurrection power in our worship.
- INDIVIDUAL CHRISTIANS
SCRIPTURES: Romans 12:1; I Cor. 6:19-20; II Cor. 4:7
PURPOSE: Our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, which is to be a living sacrifice for God.
APPLICATION FOR US TODAY: IT Is the same today as above.
- CHRISTIANS CORPORATELY
SCRIPTURES: Mat. 18:20, I Cor. 3:16-17; II Cor. 6:16; Eph. 2:19-22; I Peter 2:4-5
PURPOSE: Together we experience the presence of God in a special way.
APPLICATION FOR US TODAY: We can experience God in a special way through worshiping together with other Christians.
- THE TEMPLE IN HEAVEN
SCRIPTURES: Hebrews 8:1-5; 9:11-12, 23-24; Rev. 7:15; 11:19; 14:15,17; 15:5-16:1; 16:17
PURPOSE: God is worshipped in heaven, while He pours out judgment on the earth.
APPLICATION FOR US TODAY: Be worshippers of God, or be judged by Him.
- GOD HIMSELF
SCRIPTURES: I Cor. 13:12, Rev. 21:22
PURPOSE: One day we will worship God in His direct presence!
APPLICATION FOR US TODAY: God, Himself, is the reason and object of our worship.
