Using a Fleece or Faith?

Gideon's Faith and Failures

Judges 6:33-40 and James 1:5-8

  1. The fleece Showed Gideon's Doubt of God Instead of the Faith He Should Have Had
  2. This Was In Spite of the Spirit of the Lord Coming Upon Him and Him Becoming a Leader
    1. When we become a Christian, all our problems do not go away.
    2. Our problems stay with us until we take them to the Lord so that He can work on them with our cooperation.
  3. Is Doubt OK or Bad?
    1. Many people think doubt is OK.
    2. The following Scriptures show that doubt is bad.
      1. Mat. 14:31
      2. Mat. 21:21-22
      3. Mark 11:22-24
      4. Mat. 28:17
      5. Luke 24:37
      6. John 20:24-29
      7. Romans 14:23
      8. James 1:5-8
  4. Gideon Had Doubt, Yet God Did Not Reject Him
    1. God had mercy and worked with Gideon.
    2. The same is true for you. See Jude 22.
    3. A good prayer - "Jesus, I do believe; help me over-come my unbelief!" See Mark 9:14-27.
  5. How to Remove Doubt and Have More Faith
    1. Fill yourself with the Word of God, Romans 10:17.
    2. Get together with other Christians, Hebrews 10:25.
    3. Worship in Spirit and truth, John 4:23.
    4. Pray. Answers to prayer increase our faith.
    5. Serve the Lord, carrying out your faith.
    6. Tell others what Jesus has done for you.

Conclusion - If you have faith, you don't need a fleece! See II Cor. 5:7, Romans 1:17, and Gal. 2:20.
